- Overview
- Slag darts are refractory shapes that are used during the production of steel in the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) process.The Slag darts are inserted mechanically into the taphole toward the end of the tapping operation so as to separate steel and slag. In this way, slag darts are designed to minimize the amount of slag that is carried over to the ladle. They are comprised of the spin-shaped head and the guide rod.
